In
1951 the appliance since repaired as seen above was involved in a Road
traffic Accident at Saltaire roundabout. The machine was heading for a
fire in Shipley at one of the engineering companies around at the time.
It was reported that the steering locked and the appliance ploughed
into a queue at the Saltaire road trolley- bus stop. The accident
caused the death of 1 lady who became trapped around the front wheel.
It is believed that this appliance later became the Brigade hearse for
any firemen killed on duty.

This incident was attended by appliances from Odsal Fire Station and 1 female was rescued from the vehicle in the garage which was demolished.

These are of an incident on Scarborough harbour on Monday 24th July 2006, it was approx 14.00hrs and there was one hell of a sea fret.
Apparently it had been like it all weekend.The mist was local to the sea front at Scarborough only and was clear 50 metres
off shore.

They initially attended with one pump and were using a portable pump powered by
water to pump the boat out but soon emptied there pumps tank and believe it or
not had to await the arrival of the second pump due to lack of water. I think
the TL just turned up to have a nosey at what was going on

The exercise
was carried out on adjacent moorland at Reeth in Swaledale,
19/06/08.The pictures Below are from a recent joint exercise between Reeth and Leyburn
Fire Stations and the Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team (SMRT). The incident was a
Road Traffic Collision which was on difficult ground requiring the use of SMRT to provide casualty
care and stretcher removal whilst we carried out the extrication.
