Taken at the Centenary open day in Bingley, notice the guys in the background wearing the old brass helmets - the lad at the back is Eddie Hanslip

In 1951 the appliance since repaired as seen above was involved in a Road traffic Accident at Saltaire roundabout. The machine was heading for a fire in Shipley at one of the engineering companies around at the time. It was reported that the steering locked and the appliance ploughed into a queue at the Saltaire road trolley- bus stop. The accident caused the death of 1 lady who became trapped around the front wheel. It is believed that this appliance later became the Brigade hearse for any firemen killed on duty.

These are of an incident on Scarborough harbour on
Monday 24th July 2006, it was approx 14.00hrs and there was one hell of a sea fret. Apparently it had been like it all weekend. The mist was local to the sea front at Scarborough only and was clear 50 metres off shore.

They initially attended with one pump and were using a portable pump powered by water to pump the boat out but soon emptied there pumps tank and believe it or not had to await the arrival of the second pump due to lack of water. I think the TL just turned up to have a nosey at what was going on
Thanks to Andy and his dad for there contribution © Andy Marshall 2006
