The Fire Service were called to reports of a building on fire at 19:45 Hours on the 25th May 2012, believe smoke issuing from first and second floors and spreading to upper floors, crews got to work 6 breathing apparatus and 1 jet, and 2 hose reel jets. By 2012hrs - crews made pumps 6 and the incident sectorised into 1 and 3.

By 2054hrs - crew the made pumps 10 for breathing apparatus.  Crews confirmed that the retail building comprising of 3 floors

By 2211hrs - The fire has now been surrounded, fire spread to adjoining properties have been checked, good progress being made by crews. By 2219hrs - crews at the incident then made pumps 15

By 2311hrs - Fire now substantially supressed with no obvious fire spread to adjoining premises.

Relief were requested from the incident, and organised.

at 0046hrs - town centre terraced retail building, comprising 3 floors, 6m x 20m fire confined to hot spots on all floors, crews are damping down and reliefs being organised, crews at work 2 jets, 1 hose reel jet and 2 breathing apparatus and thermal image camera together with aerial ladder is use.

Relief crews have been requested throughout the night for this incident, at 0406hrs crews located hot spots and crews damped down, and the incident is to be scaled down to 3 appliances.

Relief crews are still be organised for this incident, we currently have Ivybridge, Middlemoor, Credition, Honiton, Ashburton, together with Totnes Incident Command Unit, and Torquay Aerial appliance.

Update at 2200. Crews have worked all day on the 26th at this incident. Appliances from Totnes, Torquay, Brixham and the aerial ladder platform from Torquay have been in attendance. The fire is now extinguished. Crews will revisit the incident on the 27th, and final details will be added then.

Update at 0845hrs 27th May - Two appliances from Brixham were mobilised to the incident along with the aerial appliance from Torquay to damp down hotspots in the roof space of the building. Crews set to work using the aerial appliance and a hose reel jet.

Update 1118hrs - Crews will be detained at the incident damping down hotspots located within the building. A revisit will be arranged for 1900hrs.

Final details at 1915 - A building measuring 15m x 3m consisting of 3 floors, bottom floor used as a newsagents, second floor used as purpose built flats. Fire believed to have started in the ground floor of the shop area. Ground, first and second floor and roof space severely damaged by fire. Fire now out. Fire investigation has been carried out, and the cause has been confirmed as accidental, believed to be an electrical fault.
