Automatic Fire Alarm 1st Alarm MP x 3 - On arrival this proved to be a fire in
a kiln in a classroom which caused the sprinklers to actuate, incident made up
to 1st alarm pumps 3 and Major Salvage Unit and support crew also requested to
assist in salvage work.

House Fire Persons Reported - On arrival proved to be pan involved, crews used
2 breathing apparatus, 1 Hosereel jet and Positive Pressure Ventilation
fan. 1 elderly female occupant was rescued by a neighbour, both given
Oxygen Therapy by Fire Service personnel and then taken to hospital by
ambulance with smoke inhalation. A further neighbour suffered smoke inhalation
but refused any treatment.

building approx 100m x 30m with basement, Chemicals also involved. 2 Foam

Platform used. Local residents advised to close all doors and windows due to
nature of smoke plume.

Chemical Leak - Proved to be a Small leak of chlorine gas inside premises. Two firefighters in chemical protection suits and breathing
apparatus removed the chemical to open air. No injuries to any members of the
public or employees at the premises.

Petrol and a lighter outside the old police station. Security guard
extinguished the fire prior to arrival of brigade using 2 hand held
extinguishers. Fire crews applied specialist burn shields to some of his body
to take the pain and heat out.Casualty removed to

fires (trees, bonfires under control.) and approx 30 were false alarms.
Out
of all incidents attended by the Fire Service during this period, approx 52
were in the Leeds District, 83 were in the Bradford District, 15 in Calderdale,
27 in Kirklees and 18 in the Wakefield District.
There were three separate
incidents in the Halifax, Bradford and Keighley areas where fire crews came
under attack whilst dealing with incidents.

Generally busy night throughout brigade area, but
nothing out of the ordinary for bonfire period. Just over 200 calls received,
approx 65 proved to be small fires (rubbish, bonfires, grass) 16 property fires
which included 10 car fires and fires involving houses, sheds and a cricket
pavilion (none of which proved serious). Crews also attended approx 40
incidents which proved to be false alarms, this included fire alarms and
bonfires which were under control.
