Road Traffic Collision - Persons trapped. Proved to be a coach down banking after leaving roadway. No persons trapped but a number of the elderly passengers were suffering from minors cuts and bruising.Fire crews were engaged in assisting persons from the vehicle to safety and making vehicle safe. Police and Ambulance also attended. 2 Elderly casualties taken to Airedale Hospital by Ambulance.

Special service Call - This incident was a 10 yr old child who whilst cleaning the car for his Mum accidentally shut himself in the boot. He was unable to release the catch or attract the attention of his Mum. Luckily he had his mobile phone in the car with him, so he called 999, and Fire crews released him from the boot of the car.

Firefighters from West Yorkshire were among emergency crews who last night battled to save Walham Power Station in Gloucester from the floods. The team of nine firefighters from Stanningley Fire Station are now assisting in the operation to restore water supply at the Mythe Water Treatment Works in Tewksbury, Gloucestershire. Doctor Ian Gilchrist, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service Senior Operations Manager, said: “Having helped save power for the residents of Gloucestershire, we are now hoping to help restore the water supply. “We worked alongside firefighters from North Yorkshire and Cornwall at the power station. It has been a real team effort.” The West Yorkshire crew is expected to remain in Gloucestershire until Friday, when they will be replaced by another West Yorkshire crew.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service this morning deployed a crew of firefighters from Stanningley Fire Station in Leeds to assist with the flood relief operation in Gloucestershire. An emergency request was made in the early hours of this morning via the National Co-ordination Centre for assistance. Stanningley Green Watch and a senior fire and rescue officer were mobilised to Gloucester Fire Station at 3.26am, taking equipment capable of pumping seven tonnes of water per minute. From there the equipment was committed to priority operations by Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service, who are using crews and equipment from all over the country to deal with the rising water. Because West Yorkshire’s response had to be made at short notice, the crew who accompanied the equipment will be brought home later today and replaced by a crew of eight firefighters from Stanningley White Watch. They are expected to stay for the next two days. Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service will accommodate them near the scene of operations.

Fire and Rescue Service pulling together in national effort to help flood victims.The Fire and Rescue Service (FRS) is pulling out all the stops to help flood victims as the weather takes it's toll around the country. Specialist High Volume Pumps (HVPs), boats, flood support teams and hose layers are being deployed from all around the country to help those struggling as the current torrential rain continues to wreak havoc.

At one time Gloucestershire had up to 4 HVPs in operation along with a flood support team and a boat from Mid West Wales FRS which were all working to prevent a boat in Tewkesbury Marina from colliding with King Johns bridge.

Oxfordshire have also had two HVPs in use as well as boats from Essex FRS and GMC FRS which have also been used to help stricken communities. In Hereford & Worcester 20 people required rescue from moving water at Sedgeberrow in Worcestershire and this was achieved using boats from Merseyside, Mid West Wales, Cheshire and GMC along with colleagues from the RNLI who also used 4 boats. Nottinghamshire FRS also sent a specialist Technical Rescue Team to assist .

High Volume Pumps have also been dispatched to assist in Northamptonshire, East Sussex and Surrey.The specialist teams and equipment have been mobilised to assist the flood-hit areas from the National Coordinating Centre which is based at West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service. Assistant Chief Officer Paul Cummins said "The National Coordination Centre has once again proved it's worth in ensuring that we can quickly despatch specialist equipment and officers from all around the country.Thanks to the work that has gone into pre-planning and the superb efforts of our mobilising team, some of whom have come in off-duty to help, , we have been able keep on top of a very difficult situation. The NCC will keep working until we are sure that our colleagues around the country have what they need to help communities get back on their feet."
